Last Modified: March 21, 2024
Pioneer Valley Educational Press, Inc. (“PVEP”) is committed to protecting your privacy. In this Privacy Policy (“Policy”), we describe how we collect, use, and disclose information that we obtain about visitors to www.pioneervalleybooks.com (the “Site”).
By using our Site, you consent to the collection and use of information by PVEP as specified below.
We are committed to protecting your privacy.
PVEP will use your information only in ways that are compatible with this Privacy Policy. The following policies are in effect for the Site owned and operated by PVEP.
PVEP has implemented a variety of physical, administrative, and technological safeguards designed to preserve the integrity and security of all personal information we collect, including by following data security frameworks established by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), CISA (Cyber Security & Infrastructure Security Agency), and SOC2 (System & Operational Controls) frameworks wherever applicable, reasonable, and feasible.
What information are you collecting and how are you collecting it?
PVEP may collect, through the site, information including your email address, your username and password, your mailing address, and/or financial information, including but not limited to credit or debit card information, some of which is sensitive information concerning a natural person (“personal information”).
We collect information from you that you provide to us directly through the site. For example, when you provide your shipping address to purchase literacy materials, we will receive that information.
When you sign up for a PVEP service or newsletter, your name or alias is recorded solely for purposes of maintaining your account within the PVEP client base or as a subscriber to our forthcoming newsletters.
We also automatically collect some information from visitors to the Site.
Every computer connected to the Internet is given a PVEP name and IP address – a set of numbers that serve as that computer’s ‘Internet Protocol’. When a visitor requests a page from PVEP’s website, our Web servers automatically recognize that visitor’s PVEP name and IP address. The PVEP name and IP address reveal nothing personal about you other than the IP address from which you have accessed our site. We use this information to examine our traffic in aggregate, but do not collect and evaluate this information for individuals. Our web servers do not record email addresses of visitors to the Site.
What are cookies?
Occasionally, PVEP may send a 'cookie' to your computer. A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's storage. A cookie can't read data off your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Cookies do not damage your system. We use cookies to identify which areas of PVEP’s network of websites you have visited, so the next time you visit, those pages may be readily accessible. We may also use cookies to ascertain how many times you've visited a particular page. We may use this information to better personalize the content that you see on our site.
You have the choice of accepting cookies by changing the settings of your browser. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or allow your browser to show you when a cookie is being sent. If you choose not to accept these cookies, your experience at our site and other Web sites may be diminished and some features may not work as intended.
PVEP’s Site is not programmed to respond to Do Not Track signals.
What other information do you request?
We may ask you to provide your e-mail address or mailing address for the purposes of conducting a survey or to provide additional services (e-mail newsletters, announcement lists or information about new services). Whenever we request the identity of a visitor, we will clearly indicate the purpose of the inquiry before the information is requested. We maintain a strict 'No-Spam' policy that means that we do not intend to sell, rent, or otherwise give your e-mail address to a third party. We also do not send e-mails that you have not agreed to receive.
How do you use the information you collect?
We may use information you provide to us to provide you with PVEP’s services, or for the purpose for which you provided it to us. Based on information you provide to us directly, PVEP may, from time to time, send e-mails announcing new services offered by PVEP. As set forth above, PVEP may use aggregate information to monitor web traffic.
Will you disclose the information you collect to third parties?
We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your personal information in the following ways:
- Service Providers. We may disclose personal information with our trusted third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform functions on our behalf, such as payment processing, transcription services, and web hosting. Personal information will be shared with these third parties as needed to perform their services to us, under reasonable confidentiality terms
- Business Transfers. We may disclose personal information in the context of a company transaction, such as a merger, sale of company assets or shares, financing, change of control, bankruptcy, or other corporate event.

When legally permitted, we shall strive to notify the School of any legal request to access Student Data before we respond to such request.
- To Protect PVEP and Others. We also may disclose personal information where we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the safety of any person, violations of this Policy, or as evidence in litigation in which PVEP is involved.
- With Your Consent. We may share personal information you provide to us with your consent.
